The Visitor Centre is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 - 16:00 (Hot food served till 14.30 and cafe closes at 15:30) and from 10:00 – 17:00 Saturday and Sunday (Hot food served till 15.30 and cafe closes at 16:30)

Discover Bioluminescence:

Discover what is Bioluminescence, what animals are bioluminescent and why and how they use it. During this fun and interactive workshop, attendees will get the chance to paint their own 'glow in the dark' creature.
 

Recommended for Ages 7-12. Younger children welcome if they will remain engaged.

That’s Sound!

From a loud BANG to a beautiful song, the world if full of different sounds, but what is sound?
 

In this workshop we will explore what sound is and how it travels. We even make our own kazoos!

Let’s Go Construct!

Join us and our friends at 'Let's Go Construct' for a hands-on LEGO session designed to inspire creativity and problem-solving! Each session includes free-building time, where you can bring your ideas to life with endless possibilities. Put your skills to the test with our exciting tower build challenges—how high can you go before gravity takes over?
 

You'll also get the chance to construct a working Wind Turbine kit, exploring the power of engineering and renewable energy in a fun, interactive way. Whether you're designing your own creations, tackling structured challenges, or learning through building, there's something for everyone.
 

Come along, get building, and see where your imagination takes you!
 

As an additional extra - Get creative this Easter with a Paint Your Own Minifigure kit! Each kit includes a minifigure, paint, and a brush—perfect for a fun holiday craft. Available for just £3.50 each. Cash or card accepted at the end of the workshop. No purchase necessary.

Forensic Detectives:

In this fun, interactive workshop, we'll look at how we can solve a case with just our fingerprints!

 

How DNA can help detectives pinpoint their suspects and learn all about the science involved when it comes to cracking a case!

Bottle Rockets:

Who will make their 'Bottle Rocket' blast off the highest?!
 

Bring along an empty 2L plastic fizzy juice bottle and work with our 'Whitelee Science Communicators' to turn it into your very own unique 'Bottle Rocket'. For Ages 7-12.
 

Younger children welcome if they will remain engaged

Brilliant Batteries:

Come and learn about how electrical circuits work in this fun and interactive workshop. Learn how some things are conductors and some are insulators, and how batteries work.

 

We will be using everyday household objects to generate electricity and start thinking about our electricity usage.

 

Age Range –  8-12 years old,  although slightly younger and older children may still find this interesting.

History-themed Bus Tour:

Hop aboard our bus and journey back in time with local historian and author Susan Hunter.

 

This brand new extended bus tour will take passengers around the inner circuit of Whiteles Windfarm and look at the archaeological remains  of features dating back to before the 1789 John Ainslie Farm Plans including the original trackways across the moors, farming settlements, cultivation, sheepfolds, dams and covenanting monuments.   (alighting from the bus for a better view if and where possible)

 

The tour will last approx 1.5hrs and will start and end from the Visitor Centre.

Disgusting Digestion:

In this fun workshop, you will become a piece of food and discover the route taken through the digestive system of the human body.

 

Recommended for Ages 7-12. Younger children welcome if they will remain engaged.

Ancient Technology: Catapults

In this workshop you'll learn about forces, energy and ancient technology, but more importantly, you'll get to build your very own catapult to fire at your opponent’s castle!

 

Age: 7+

Egg Drop Challenge:

Test your engineering skills in this Easter-themed workshop! Your task is to come up with a design that will protect an egg when dropped from above.

 

This workshop could get messy!!!
