Whitelee Visitor Centre

The Visitor Centre is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 - 16:00 (Hot food served till 14.30 and cafe closes at 15:30) and from 10:00 – 17:00 Saturday and Sunday (Hot food served till 15.30 and cafe closes at 16:30)

Visitor Accessibility

We welcome all our visitors and work hard to make sure our facilities at Whitelee Visitor Centre are accessible to everyone. Disabled parking

A limited number of disabled parking spaces are available in our car park.

Entrance and exits

The main entrances and exits to Whitelee Visitor Centre are wheelchair accessible.

Wheelchair accessibility

We have a wheelchair available from reception. Please ask a member of staff if you require a manual wheelchair for the duration of your visit to the Centre. Please note this is available on a first come first serve basis.
 

Bus Tours: Our bus has space for 1 wheelchair at all times however we can remove seats to fit more wheelchairs if required. Please speak with reception staff on arrival to book a tour and inform us of your requirements.

Toilets and baby changing areas

An accessible toilet and baby changing area with toilet is available.

Parents with babies or toddlers

We are a breastfeeding friendly establishment. We can heat baby food and drinks in our café and highchairs are available for families with young children. Just ask our staff and they’ll be happy to help you.

Visitors with additional support needs

We are now offering autism friendly sessions where all noisy exhibits and music will be switched off, lights will be dimmed, and hand dryers will be turned off in toilets. We will also offer quiet space, ear defenders and shorter bus tours with stripped back information. All staff have attended autism awareness training sessions and a video tour of what to expect at the visitor centre is available here.

First aid

We have a first aid kit and defibrillator located at reception and always at least one fully qualified first aider on duty at all times.

Carers

Entry to the visitor centre is free. There is a small charge for bus tours, all paying visitors who require special assistance on a tour are offered free admission for their carer to the tour.

Assistance dogs

We only allow Assistance Dogs in the visitor centre.
