Star Nights
We are now taking bookings for our Star Nights for organised groups for Mondays in November 2023 and February 2024. We can take a maximum of 60 children per night and there will 3 different activities for them to participate in. Each of the activities will last for 40 minutes and they are;
- Introduction to Astronomy session. One of our Science Communicators will give an introduction to the night sky and highlight certain stars and points of interest. This session will be outside, weather permitting but in case of rain or clouds it could be held inside using a screen and astronomy software. If the weather is dry and clear then we ask that your group wears suitable clothing and footwear for the weather.
- Tour of the solar system session. Learn facts and information about the planets and other objects in the solar system. We will cover the theories on how it was formed, how it has changed and take a virtual trip to each of the planets.
- Make a planisphere session. We will provide all the resources for participants to make their own planisphere to take home and keep, and show them how to use it. This will help them identify constellations and stars in the night sky.
We will be running these nights on the 6th, 13th , and 20th of November 2023 and the 5th, 19th and 26th of February 2024. We will start at 7:00pm and will finish for 9:00pm.
The nights cost £5.00 per child, with accompanying adults free of charge. There is a minimum booking size of 20. We will arrange the children into groups of 20 on the night for organisation and safety.
To book, please call 0141 614 0851 between 10:00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday. We ask that payment is arranged 7 days in advance of the session.
