Scottish Power Renewables Whitelee Windfarm visitor centre

Update January 2013

Whitelee Windfarm is set to get greener as work on a 75 turbine extension nears completion. When the new turbines are operational, Whitelee’s generating capacity will be boosted to 539 megawatts, enough to provide power to the equivalent of over 300,000 homes!*

March 2013 is the target date for full operation, and when achieved, an additional 44 kilometers of trails will become available for use.

The main access road via Lochgoin continues to form part of the construction site boundary as it is the main route into and out of the extension site. John Sisk and Son Limited/Roadbridge as Principal Contractor continue to provide Health and Safety management for the site with Alstom Limited erecting and commissioning wind turbines.

If you have any specific questions about the extension project, the Whitelee Windfarm Extension Information Line can be reached on 0845 270 0798 or alternatively you can contact us via email at the following address: whiteleeextension@scottishpower.com

*Based on an industry average capacity factor of 30% and an annual household consumption of 4,370kWh.
